In a band? Want everyone to hear it? Post it here!
My band: www.myspace.com/pidgeonscantcry
We only have one song up as of now, but we're working on the rest.
Before anyone says any of these: Yes, we realize this is terrible quality, we played all the instruments at once and used a crappy computer mic to record it. We just wanted to get a quick demo down real quick, but we're going in later to record individually using a soundboard. Yes, we realize we spelled "pigeon" wrong, and you may not like the name but it's not necessarily permanent. And yes, we realize we mess up at a couple parts.
But anyway, I play the keyboard/synth.
Post your bands folks!

We're mainly a big Primus ripoff. It's my fault. I'm the bass player.
The music on our page isn't great quality either, but still not too shabby. It's from the soundboard recording of a show we did.

Pidgeonscancry - Great base to work with. Experimentation and progression with recording should be a focus. Overall, the songs have good structure, and good dynamics. Impressive.
El Duderino - Like the songs, but the vocals are way to high in the mix. The drummer is a bit to crash happy/high hat happy, but sounds good on Mellow(which strangely reminded me of a song on In On the Kill Taker from Fugazi). Overall, again very impressive and me likey likey.
Now feel free to offer some contructive criticism for my band, but only the bass and drums cause the fuckin guitar player rips like no other....really.

Felonica - your band, Spacegoat, was enjoyable. A tad repetitive perhaps, but that's always something you have to work to overcome without a vocalist. I liked the time change from 4/4 to 3/4 in "Pigeons Can't Cry," but I wasn't feeling the change back to 4/4 quite so much. I loved the high synth melody and the transition to and from the frantic, high energy parts in "Ichabod," and I was particularly fond of your guitarist's chord selection. The synth is neat sounding, though I feel that sometimes it's a little bit out of place. I was less impressed with "Field of Fuzz." The "New" song you had on their displayed an interesting mellow side, and the muffled drums around 1:20 are masterfully halting. The synth feedback around 2:50 was a tad unnecessary, but aside from the transition, I liked the end. Skyline's got a really cool intro. It took a little long to build up, I think, but an excellent idea. Japeth was melancholy in a nice way.
My general impressions: work on transitions and try to eliminate repetitiveness. Getting ahold of a vocalist or establishing a consistent lead would help you guys with this, I think. And of course, better recording quality is never a bad thing. My last comment, try to find a place for the synth. In some parts it really shines (like the melody in Ichabod) but in other parts it is just distracting. If you could achieve the same synchronicity throughout your songs, it would be amazing.
Poindexter - I was definitely getting a Primus feeling from El Duderino, but you guys pulled it off with the appropriate flair. You have the instrumental skill to show off in your songs, but you do it in such a lighthearted fashion that it's fun rather than arrogant. I felt like you guys jammed on the same riff a little bit too much on "The Foliage is Unforgiving," but it certainly wasn't a bad riff. "Carneyville" was a neat little interlude-y kind of thing. I liked the more aggressive tone that you took with "The Pleasure's All Mine" and the bass interlude/guitar solo was cool. The rapping... was hilarious! From a strictly musical standpoint, I think I enjoyed "Mellow" the most. Your guitarist did an excellent job of creating tension and release, especially with the crescendo around 3:20. Nice pick scraping on "Christmas Never Came." I was very impressed with the intro on "Sloth and Circumstance." Marvelous buildup. I didn't really like the vocals on that song, but they certainly fit the theme of your band.
My general impression: good job guys. If you like the whole "Primus" kind of feel, you are doing very well. I aggree that the vocals were a little bit loud in some parts, but your instruments' dynamics were pretty solid. I was impressed with your band's ability to create different "feels" for your songs, which is an excellent tool for making things interesting. If you guys felt the urge, you could certainly perform more serious music.
Hmmmshai_hulud - Your guitarist does indeed rip. Everything seems very well mixed, and your recording quality is really good. I definitely liked the dissonant notes that the guitarist lets ring at the end of "apnea." I didn't really notice the bass and drums too much, which is a good thing because they weren't distracting. Unfortunately, they weren't particularly interesting, either. If you want to give the drums and bass a more important role, maybe work in some less conventional rhythms or include some more bass breaks. The vocals were spot on as well.
Even though I feel like Misterphister is probably the most polished of the first three, I feel like you guys don't really stand out. Everything is very solid, I just think you might do well to venture into some "unexplored territory." Of course, that's the prog-rock side of me saying that, so if you guys aren't interested in doing something weird, that's fine. I'm certain that you have the talent to effectively pursue whatever musical endeavours you want, and I think that your solid base in more typical music would serve you in good stead if you were to branch out.
I haven't forgotten you other guys. I will be back, I've just gotta head out now.
